چکیده

The effect of 96 h exposure the goldfish Carassius auratus to two different types bioplastic particles, originating from commercial shopping bag (Bag, ~5 mm) and polylactic acid-based (PLA) cup (Cup, ≤5 mm), petroleum-based polyamide particles (PA, 0–180 µm) was studied. All were studied as virgin after simulated UV-degradation (at concentration 30 mg L−1). experiments conducted according OECD 203 test guidelines. toxicity endpoint evaluated in fish brain gills lipid peroxidation (LPO) quantified nmol thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARs) mg−1 protein. results indicated that indicatively compostable PLA Cup induced significant LPO and/or goldfish, contrast Bag PA (in brain, > PA; gills, Bag). all had no on level compared particles. While increase upon PLA-plastic can be transitory long-term perspective, our point necessity a thorough investigation hazard bioplastics at state environmental degradation/weathering.

Oxidative Stress and DNA Damage Induced by Chromium in Liver and Kidney of Goldfish, Carassius auratus

Chromium (Cr) is an abundant element in the Earth's crust. It exhibits various oxidation states, from divalent to hexavalent forms. Cr has diverse applications in various industrial processes and inadequate treatment of the industrial effluents leads to the contamination of the surrounding water resources. Hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) is the most toxic form, and its toxicity has been associate...

Study on bioaccumulation and histopathological effects of microplastic polystyrene on Goldfish (Carassius auratus)

Microplastics are known to be emerging contaminants and there are widespread concerns about their potential toxic effects. Histopathological study is one of the appropriate methods in diagnosing the effects of environmental pollutants on aquatics. In this study, the accumulation and adsorption of polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) in the gills of Goldfish were identified and its toxic effect...

Latent inhibition experiments with goldfish (Carassius auratus).

Evidence of latent inhibition was sought in a series of experiments with goldfish. In Experiment 1, goldfish were given nonreinforced preexposure to a color that subsequently predicted shock in an activity conditioning situation; their performance did not differ from that of control animals preexposed to a markedly different color. In Experiment 2, a group of goldfish given nonreinforced preexp...

Isolation of Shewanella putrefaciens from Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus)

In the present study, the etiological agent that caused mortality in goldfish at an aquarium company located in Bursa in northwestern Turkey was identified. Diseased fish were lethargic, displaying a loss of appetite, ascites, and exophthalmia. Internal examination revealed that the kidney was surrounded by exudate and that the spleen and liver were pale. Microbiological examination showed that...
